The congress emphasizes that once the new minimum wage is approved, it must be adhered to by states, local governments, and the organized private sector.

Earlier this month, organized labor tentatively set the new minimum wage at N615,000 per month.

The 2024 Workers’ Day is anticipated as President Bola Tinubu might announce the proposed minimum wage.

The previous minimum wage of N30,000 expired on April 18, 2024. Talks are ongoing between the government and labour unions to reach an agreement.

Additionally, the NLC calls for the creation of state and local government police to enhance security.

Various stakeholders have expressed opinions on the feasibility and implications of these demands.
