The Nigerian Police through its Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, FCID Alagbon, in Ikoyi, Lagos State, arrested Oyeabuchi Daniel Okafor and Jasmine Chioma Okekeagwu, alleged to be the sons and adopted daughter of actor JohnOkafor, also known as Mr. Ibu, on Thursday, 25th January 2024, for conspiring and defrauding Mr. Ibu of N55 million.

The arrests were made based on a petition from the actor’s wife, Stella Maris Chinyere Okafor.

The investigation revealed that the suspects manipulated Mrs. Okafor, gained control of Mr. Ibu’s phone, and transferred the funds from public donations for the actor’s medical bills, totaling N55 million.

The duo, planning to leave the country, had a sham marriage and applied for UK visas.

A sum of N50 million has been recovered, and they are charged with conspiracy and stealing in Chief Magistrate Court 1, Yaba.

Meanwhile the casefile has been forwarded to the Office of Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

They were granted bail in the sum of =N= 15m with two sureties in like sum while case was adjourned to 11th March, 2024.

Mr. Ibu had undergone multiple surgeries in October 2023, and was seeking further treatment abroad, with his family expressing gratitude for the donations received from his fans.
