The President, Bola Tinubu, has charged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, to deliver the Abuja metroline for the good of the city, in his opening statement at the Nigerian Bar Association conference held in Abuja on Sunday, 27th August, 2023.
President Tinubu who described the minister of the FCT as the landlord of Abuja, told him not to give him free land should he ask for one, but rather tasked him to complete the project instead.
I want to ride on your metroline. If I ask for free land, do not give me, but deliver the metroline for the good of the greatest number of Nigerians.

The Abuja Metro line was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari on July 12, 2018, but was later abandoned.
The project which was conceived in the 70s is meant to solve the perennial transportation problem in the Federal Capital Territory ,FCT, and its adjoining towns and cities.
