South African former President, Nelson Mandela’s grand daughter, Zoleka Mandela, has died of cancer at the age of 43 on Monday, 25th September, 2023.

The announcement of Zoleka’s death was made known by the family spokesperson, Zwelabo Mandela via official Instagram account on Tuesday, 26th September, 2023.

Zoleka was the granddaughter of South Africa’s first democratically elected President and anti-apartheid hero, Nelson Mandela and his second wife, Winnie.

She was born on 9th April 1983 to MJ Seakamela and Zindzi Mandela.

Zoleka was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32, treated and was in remission, but the illness later resurfaced.

According to report, the cancer had spread to various parts of her body, including hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain, and spinal cord.

Zoleka was an outspoken writer and activist for healthcare and justice throughout her life.

Her work in raising awareness about cancer prevention and her unwavering commitment to breaking down the stigma surrounding the disease will continue to inspire us all.

Zoleka passed away in the presence of her friends and family, despite the medical team tireless efforts to save her life.
