Nigerian Afrobeats artist, Seun Kuti, has revealed that he refurbished the Panti cell in Yaba, Lagos State, by renovating the restroom facilities, to benefit individuals who may find themselves in detention, including fellow artists like Naira Marley.
Naira Marley was on Tuesday, 3rd October, 2023, detained by Lagos state police for questioning and to help with their investigation into late singer, MohBad’s death.
While stating his actions after his own detention, he stressed the importance of addressing this issues that impact those who might face similar situations.
Seun Kuti revealed,
Some actions I took, though not publicized, are worth mentioning here. It could be you in that situation tomorrow. When I left the Panti cell, do you know the first thing I did when I got home?”

He stated that he financed the renovations personally, recognizing that he could potentially find himself back in that prison.
Seun was arrested in May 2023, for physically assaulting a police officer in uniform, in Lagos State.
