AS Roma confirmed his sack in a statement released via their website.

Roma parted ways with Jose Mourinho, following Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to AC Milan and are winless in three league games.

The recent defeats to Juventus, Lazio and Milan have seen the club slip to 9th on the Seria A table.

Mourinho took over in May 2021 and led Roma to the Europa Conference League title a year later.

However they are five points off Serie A’s final Champions League qualifying spot and last week were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by city rivals Lazio.

In their farewell speech, Owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin thanked Mourinho “for the passion and commitment he has shown” as boss.

We will always have great memories of his stewardship, but we believe that, in the best interests of the club, immediate change is necessary.

Mourinho’s three-year spell at Roma peaked with them winning the Europa Conference League title against Feyenoord in Tirana, their first trophy in 11 years in their first European final since 1991.
