Recovered, GLB 250 Benz

Speaking with pressmen in Edo state on Monday, July 18th, 2023, the suspect said that he only drove the car to Delta state because he could not reach the car dealer on the phone when they stopped at the filling station to buy petrol for the car during the test drive.

Meshach explained that he visited the car dealer’s shop intending to buy the car, but he could not afford the 58 million Naira the dealer was asking for so he offered to pay 30 million Naira instead.

He said it was at that point that the dealer suggested that he took car for a the test-drive so that he would know the value of what he was pricing.

However, they stopped at a filling station to buy petrol and the dealer told him to wait in the car while he went to get money to pay for the fuel.

“When we got to a filling station, he asked me to pull over as he needed to buy fuel for the car. He told me to wait so that he would go and get some cash to buy the fuel. I waited for his return for three hours but he was nowhere to be found, and I was already causing a queue at the filling station. I called his line several times but it was switched off. It was already dusk so I drove to my residence at almost 8pm. My phone had gone flat then, so I charged it when I got home and called him again. His line was switched off.

When quizzed on why he ran away from Delta after he found out the police were tracking the vehicle, he said he ran away from Delta because his uncle slapped him and threatened to report to the police after he explained how he got the car.
