Two Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, The Webmark Empowerment Foundation in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Abuja, Lugbe, FHA Estate, have embarked on a ‘Tree Planting Project’ in the Dafara community of Kuje area council, in Abuja, the Federal capital territory of Nigeria.

According to the organizations, the event is part of an effort to combat the effect of climate change on rural communities in Abuja, which is aimed at preserving the community’s environment and improving the quality of life of its residents.

In his welcome address, the President of Webmark Foundation, Engr. Tunmise Adepoju, while commending members of the Dafara community for being good hosts, disclosed that tree planting is the organization’s giving back to the community.

He explained further that the Webmark Foundation has adopted Dafara as their community, and that they have plans to do other projects in the community such as Solar Powered Borehole, Renovation of their health center, Rural Health Outreach, Rural education/literacy, and Skill acquisition program.

Also at the event, the President of Rotary Club of Lugbe, FHA Estate, in Abuja, Rotarian Adetundun Ayeni, appreciated the Webmark Foundation President and her team for their partnership with the organisation.

She said tree planting is an internationally recognized way to fight against pollution and ensure free fresh air for all.

She promised that Rotary International will also look into the renovation project of the health center in the Dafara community, to see how the 7gorganisation can partner with Webmark Foundation in ensuring the renovation becmes a reality.

Dafara is not the only community in the FCT, the Webmark Foundation has impacted, it has planted 40 trees in the Karshi community, and 30 in Gurku.
