President Bola Tinubu honored every member of the Super Eagles who participated in the recently concluded African Cup of Nations by awarding them the national honor of Member of the Order of the Niger, MON on Tuesday, 13th February 2024.

This announcement was made during President Tinubu’s hosting of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, at the Council Chambers of the State House.

At the reception the President commended the team for their resilience, sportsmanship, and can-do attitude, while also expressing gratitude to the players for uplifting the nation’s spirit with their performance at AFCON.

Additionally, in recognition of their achievement, the federal government, represented by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesome Wike, granted each team member a plot of land and a flat in a yet-to-be-disclosed location.

The conferment of the honours followed their recent match against the host nation, Côte d’Ivoire, in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations finals, where they narrowly missed winning the trophy.
