The Super Eagles of Nigeria will soon discover their opponents as the draw for the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, is set to occur in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire today, Thursday, 12th October, 2023.

This was made known in the official Instagram of Confederation of African Football, CAF.

José Peseiro’s team is positioned in Pot 2 and may potentially face one of Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, or Egypt in the group stage.

Nigeria secured the top spot in their group with 15 points, netting 22 goals, which included a comprehensive 16-0 aggregate victory over Sao Tome and Principe.

In the previous edition of the competition in Cameroon, the Super Eagles were eliminated in the Round of 16 following a 1-0 loss to Tunisia.

Nigeria’s most recent AFCON victory dates back to 2013, and they aspire to claim their fourth title, having previously triumphed in 1980 and 1994.

Currently, the Eagles are in Portugal, gearing up for friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

The draw is scheduled to take place at the Parc des Expositions at 19:00 local time.
