The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting today Friday, 27th January, 2023, in Osogbo has sacked Governor Ademola Adeleke as the duly elected governor of the State.
The Tribunal sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capita, ordered that the certificate of returns given to Adeleke be withdrawn with immediate effect.
The tribunal In a split document of two to one declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should issue a certificate of return to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
The majority judgement which was read by the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Tertse Kume said Oyetola scored the majority lawful votes of 314,931 against Adeleke who scored a total 219,666 votes.
Justice Tertsea Kume while reading the judgement in Osogbo, stated that the conduct of the election was not in compliance with the electoral act.
