A Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has ordered EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, to appear before it on May, 13th 2024 regarding a possible breach of its order on Friday, 26th April 2024

Justice I.A. Jamil issued this order during proceedings for Case No: HCL/68M/2024 and Motion No: HCL/190M/2024, initiated by former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi.

The court found that the EFCC’s actions may constitute contempt of court.

After considering arguments from Bello’s counsel and reviewing evidence, the court granted Bello’s requests and summoned Olukoyede to address the contempt charge.

Yahaya Bello, Ex Kogi State Governor

The court adjourned the matter to May 13 for Olukoyede’s appearance.

This development comes days after the EFCC Chairman stated that he would resign if the former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is not prosecuted.

The ex governor is wanted by the EFCC for alleged involvement in economic and financial crimes amounting to N80.2 Billon.
