Guinness World Record holder Tunde Onakoya, has publicly thanked Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold and his wife, Simi, via his social media handles, for supporting him even when it was not popular to do so.
Taking to social media on Friday, 26th April, Onakoya expressed his heartfelt appreciation, acknowledging Adekunle Gold’s timely intervention and unwavering encouragement during his record breaking feat at Newyork’s Times Square.
He stated, “My good man @adekunleGOLD ❤️🇳🇬 You flew in to look out for me and show support even when it wasn’t convenient.
The chess maestro went on to commend both Adekunle Gold and Simi for their enduring commitment to his journey, emphasizing their backing long before it became fashionable.

During a marathon held at New York’s Times Square, Onakoya surpassed the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon on Saturday, playing for 59 hours without being defeated.
This achievement eclipsed the previous record set by Norwegian players Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad in 2018.
