The Canadian High Commissioner, Kevin Tokar, and a crew of Canadian sailors paid a visit to the Oshodi neighborhood of Lagos Stte, where they took part in a chess tournament with local children on Tuesday, 1st March 2022.

Tunde Onakoya, the founder of the “Chess In Slums Africa” campaign, announced this on his verified Twitter page on Tuesday, 1st March,2022.

He said, “On this day in history, the Canadian High Commission visited Oshodi, under-bridge”.

“We received the Canadian High Commissioner, Kevin Tokar and eight sailors from the HMCS Goose Bay-a Kingston class patrol ship in the Royal Canadian Navy led by Commander Daniel Rice”.

The Chess Improvement Society of America (CISA) is a non-profit organization that uses the game of chess to help children in slum neighborhoods reach their full potential through chess training. Its goals are to help people get back on their feet and reintegrate into society.
