Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey Effiong, popularly called chef Hilda Baci, from Nsit Ubium LGA in Akwa Ibom State, has taken up a 96 hours cookathon, to break a new world record of the longest cooking time.


The 27years old chef, who owns a restaurant in Lagos called “My Food by Hilda”, has been the talk of many on social media as she strives to break the “Guinness world record” currently held by Indian chef, Lata Tandon.


Nigerians have shown so much support for her, including the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, joining her live, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, via a phone call, the Governor of Lagos state, visiting the venue.

Former Vice President Abubakar Atiku, was not left out as he sent a tweet to also show support.

Celebrities including realwarripikin, Nancy Isime, former BBN housemate Alex, Monalisa Chindu, also came out to show her love and support.


The cooking, which is to last 4 days non stop, started Thursday, 11th May, 2023, to end on Monday evening, 15th May, 2023 where she is expected to stand and cook round the clock without sitting and no sleep, with just 5 minutes break for every hour.


However, there is no restrictions as to what she can cook as everything made by her will be served for free to everyone present.


Hilda is attempting to cook for 96 hours, to enable her beat the current holder of the title who attained it at 87 hours 45 minutes non stop cooking in 2019.


So far, she has cooked 115 meals, with 3000 portions shared where the cooking is taking place at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria.
