The Convener of the Buns and Bites forum, Abisola Theo-Ado has made a call to Nigerian women in a conference she organized in Abuja, the Buns and Bites 2.0 women’s conference, on Wednesday 5th July, 2023, where woman from all works of life were in attendance.

The aim of the conference was for women to learn how to balance their personal lives and other social responsibilities in order to achieve their life long goals.

Theo-Ado said her passion to start the forum was born out of the need to inspire young women in gaining back their confidence and helping them to discover their potentials, by so doing, will improve their confidence.

Theo-Ado explained that in many cases, women tend to lose themselves after marriage because of diverse happening around them and become shadows of themselves, losing the zeal and passion they once had to succeed in their different fields.

She added that with the help of the forum, she is optimistic that women will take advantage of the networking and build relationships which in turn will open doors of opportunities for them to improves themselves by so doing improve the society.

Participants at the forum took turns to discuss issues that affects women, from marriage to the running of their various homes and they were advised women to speak out when they feel a need to be heard. It was stressed that it was important for women to become support systems for one another.

Guest speaker, Omolara Ogunjimi, CEO Jira Operations, presented a paper titled strategic planning, organization and implementation for modern women. She advised women to always have a mapped out plan on what they hope to achieve for themselves and their families, with a planned out time of when they want to achieve such goals, while calling on participants to take advantage of the opportunities at their disposal.

Barr. Esther Omenka, founder, Star crest foundation spoke on Mental health and the 21st Century. She appealed to women to always pay attention to their mental health, while being career women as well as home runners.

She advised women to always find a balance between their social obligation and creating personal time for themselves, to avoid mental breakdown.

Participants at the Forum

One of the participants at the forum, Zainab Bodunrin called on the government to create more opportunities for women to be part of the nation builders and continue their quota in the society.

Another participant Josephine Ajibogwu said the forum has been a great experience for her because it has enabled her unwind, learn and remember things that she has known but have forgotten about.

Ajibogwu disclosed that the forum was a wake up call for her to improve herself both for her family and to the society at large. While thanking the organizers, she appealed for more of such forums to be organized so as to create a conducive environment for women to build back their confidence, improve themselves, by so doing, improve the society.

Theo-Ado, while thanking the participants, also appealed to the Federal Government to give women a chance to participate in running the society to achieve stability in both the home and society. She said that such participation by women will go a long way in reducing drastically the ill vices in the society, noting that a happy woman makes a happy society.
