African Action Congress, AAC, Presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has joined some Nigerian university students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, as they blocked Lagos Airport road in protest against the ongoing seven-month Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, strike, in a show of determination despite of the rain, in Lagos State.

The students, who seemed happy to see Sowore at their protest, cheered him on as he addressed them saying “I am a comrade and I remain a comrade forever, anything you need for us, let us know, but this is your struggle”.

The blockade on the Lagos airport road created by the protesting students led to heavy traffic jamm on the road as vehicles have not been able to move freely in and out of the airport.

ASUU has been on strike since February 14th, 2022. The Union shut down all public universities across the country to press their demands to the Federal Government.

The students who last week blocked the Lagos-Ibadan express way to express their grievances towards the ongoing strike as they want to resume schooling and get going with their education, have also threatened to shut down the Presidential Villa, in Abuja if their demands are not met.
