South African Artist, Tyla, described Nigerian music sensation, Tems as ‘the Queen’, in a recent in a recent interview on MTV Live, where she recounted how she delayed submitting her debut album to her record label because of the Nigerian Artist.
During the interview, Tyla disclosed how she ended up collaborating with Tems and other artists on her album, despite not originally planning to collaborate with anyone.
She also expressed her gratitude to Tems, as well as other artists like Gunna and Becky G, for their contributions to her debut album, which she worked on for almost three years.
Her eponymous debut album, released on Friday, 22nd March 2024 features a track titled ‘No. 1’ with Tems.
The release of the album follows her successful 2023, highlighted by the viral hit ‘Water,’ which led her to become the first person to win a Grammy for Best African Music Performance at just 22 years old.
