The Director General, of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday 26th March, 2024, aimed at strengthening existing ties between the two entities, collaborate in publicising NCS’ activities, and to buy cars for Radio Nigeria’s outside stations.

During the visit, Dr Bulama congratulated the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi on his appointment and praised his commendable achievements in repositioning the Customs Service during these critical and challenging times, within a few months of his appointment.

He proposed collaborating with the Nigerian Customs Service to share information about Customs activities. The DG suggested allocating a five-minute slot on Radio Nigeria each week to highlight Customs’ achievements and activities, utilizing Radio Nigeria’s widespread stations to reach audiences in standard and pidgin English, and other Nigerian Languages.

The DG, FRCN also offered Radio Nigeria’s training school, to train officers of the NCS’ Radio station, either in Lagos or Abuja, for the officers to have a sound footing.

He sought the assistance of the CG, to buy vehicles that have been lined up for auction to enable the corporations stations around the country to work efficiently in service delivery and disseminating information.

In response, the CG, Adewale Adeniyi, who presented Dr Bulama with a plaque as a token of appreciation for their partnership, acknowledged the longstanding strategic partnership between Customs and Radio Nigeria, emphasizing Radio Nigeria’s unique attributes even as he thanked FRCN for providing Radio Nigeria as a platform to enlighten and sensitize Nigerians about Customs activities.

He acknowledged Radio Nigeria’s crucial role in amplifying Customs’ efforts against smuggling and stressed the importance of deepening collaboration between the two agencies.

Adeniyi reiterated NCS’ commitment to leveraging Radio Nigeria’s reach and encouraged Nigerians to utilize trade facilitation policies for exporting locally made goods.

He pledged to consider the DG’s request for cars to enable FRCN function optimally.
